Learn how Vulcan FEG is leading the way in energy efficiency and innovation.

The Vulcan Food Equipment Group is recognized by chefs and operators throughout the world for providing durable, reliable and energy efficient commercial cooking equipment for the foodservice industry.

With today’s higher energy costs, innovation in energy efficiency without compromising performance is crucial to an operations’ success. Our customers rely on us to strengthen their bottom line while helping with energy conservation.

As a result, Vulcan, as a part of ITW Food Equipment Group-North America received the ENERGY STAR® Partner of the Year award for 2008 and 2009. The award, given by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Energy, recognized the organizations for having 381 ENERGY STAR qualified units and a 56 percent increase in ENERGY STAR product offerings over the previous year.

Moving forward, we remain committed to ongoing energy efficient product innovation. By working closely with governmental agencies , the Federal Energy Management Program and local utility companies across the U.S., we develop equipment specifications that meet today’s needs as well as anticipate future opportunities.

Also consider these energy-saving tips:

  • CUT IDLE TIME: Equipment left on standby when it’s not being used wastes energy and costs money. Create a startup/shutdown plan so you are only using the equipment you need. Eliminating an hour or two every day per appliance can result in big savings over the course of a year.

  • REGULAR MAINTENANCE PAYS OFF: Create a regular maintenance plan to make sure that all of your equipment is operating efficiently. Leaky gaskets, clogged burners and loose fitting doors add up to higher energy costs. Don’t forget to check and calibrate your equipment regularly too.

  • CHOOSE ENERGY EFFICIENT EQUIPMENT: When replacing equipment look for the ENERGY STAR certification. They cost less to operate and in most cases emit less heat, thus lowering your cooling costs and making your kitchen more comfortable.

  • BUY ONLY WHAT YOU NEED: Select equipment that best matches your cooking needs. Purchasing appliances with more capacity than your operation requires, not only costs you more, but also uses more energy over the lifespan.
